Touch Dimmer Tear-down |

This is a tear-down of one TT6061A based touch dimmer that could not handle touch and failed (static electricity killed it). This dimmer module manufactured by Eaglerise was found inside a desk lamp.

Inside view

The development inside looks pretty OK. There is a correct normal fuse there (tiny ceramic fuse) and also over-temperature protection fuse. There is RF filtering coil to filter dimmer noise. There way the touch wire is connected to rest of the circuit looks OK, meaning properly rated capacitors isolating touch wire from mains parts and proper insulation distance from touch wire to rest of circuit board.

A quick measuring across the circuit did not reveal anything easy to repair thing that can be failed (like fuse or bad soldering). I believe that the control IC failed, and so this device is not worth to attempt to repair.
